Weekends are often crowded with community events within walking distance. When I moved here from London, I pushed my toddler around the narrow streets, struck by the way school children moved aside and people with little dogs stopped for a stroke.

I was relieved when decent coffee shops opened up and overjoyed that I could still get a decent Turkish takeaway!

There are issues: the the lorries, the potholes and roadworks, the lack of zebra crossings, poor disabled access to most buildings…..

But, as I pop to the shop again for a bacon sarnie, I honestly can’t imagine living anywhere else!
